How easy it was to integrate to our docs. Docusaurus supports algolia and many other services support algolia out of the box for indexing. It's also free so it saved a lot of time for us.
For free there wasn't a way to make algolia work offline out of the box.
It made finding the right docs much easier and improved our use of development docs.
Algolia can help my services to find the data faster than in a second, even if it's written wrong. Good documentation and nice Laravel/Vue.js plugins out of the box — means very simple and straightforward integration with almost any product. You can integrate their search less than one hour!
Only problem I found was in the Hebrew (and probably Arabic) language search. Also pricing could be too big than self managing a elastic search for big projects. But for small projects would be enough even free tier!
I used algolia in my customers’ web-sites: multilingual search, multiple entity search, full-text search for products and categories for ecommerce, and even show products by category and filters directly from their API without my backend. It was easy to integrate, fast
Very easy to implement. Created a search index for my Firestore database to introduce search in my Flutter app and had no problems whatsoever. Implementation (creation of the index, database export, database synchronisation and client implementation) took me less than half a day and it allowed me to introduce search with fast results in my product catalog.
Nothing at all. The solution Algolia provides was the complete package in my use case.
I was using a Firestore database for a product catalog and wanted to allow my users to search for products.
It was very quick and easy to install Algolia, and now our end users can quickly search our documentation to find the answers they seek. Praise has been expressions like "Algolia is incredible!", so we're very happy.
Unfortunately the open-source account doesn't always link things up correctly in Algolia's dashboard, which makes it slightly difficult to research specifics. I wish we could purge data before our official release date.
We added search to end-user documentation.
How easy it is to setup a project and customize it to match the needs of the app
It may be a bit pricy for personal applications
Autocompletion feature is one of the main problems that Algolia solves.
It's the easiest way to add search functionalities to your software, without having to worry about managing Solr or ES clusters. Their API is really well documented and easy to use. Pricing model is also easy and you should not have problems calculating how much you will end up paying. Other advantage is the low and consistent latency to all end users, with servers on every major continent, no user will have a bad experience.
It can be a lot more expensive than self managing a elastic search or other search software cluster by yourself.
We use it for searching pages on a blog, the main benefit is, as I mentioned, the ease of using the API, without having to worry about anything else. We also save a lot of time by not having to manage anything related to search.
It makes up for Firebases' deficiencies!
Probably scaling up can be costly, but to start and prototype is great and easy
I was solving the search of Google maps businesses, taking into account the user location as well (to find closer shops)
The easy of integration and the speed of getting the responses. The documentation is also great. I have added a search feature to my personal blog, which is based on Jekyll. There is a Jekyll package that does all the heavy lifting, and for the parts to customize there is plenty of documentation. From the creation of the account to be up and running it took me less than one hour.
Nothing in particular. Everything was smooth and clean. I can't really say that there are downsides.
I wanted to add a search feature to my personal blog. I managed to do that in less than one hour, including the time necessary to create the account. One of the best parts of the Jekyll SDK I have used is that it automatically indexes all the posts in the blog, so I don't have to add anything. It integrated wonderfully with github, so it was really zero effort (and zero cost!) to have it up and running.
We were comparing Search options for both our new website and our web based application focused on the families we serve. We explored options such as Elastic which provided a robust suite of tools. However, in the end we decided on Algolia for its hosted search, ease of implementation, and UX. It allows us to focus on our data and not have to worry about maintaining the Search experience.
Thus far in our implementation, we haven't had any complaints! Algolia provides with pretty much everything we need. It's almost like Stripe for Search!
We've been able to minimize the amount of time integrating this critical function of our web assets. We're able to focus on our data rather than maintaining the Search engine.
The speed at which a search operation executes, along with all the linked aspects that broadens the concept of universal unified search in order to provide great User Experience! The product's landing page is one of the best I have seen to date since it clearly explains the search powers when clicked on the search bar on the homepage to get on the demo search portal in order to get hands-on experience with it. Simply put, Algolia is one of the best search experience providers that totally builds on and aims to provides one of the best user experiences out there when it come to search platforms/ tools or APIs.
I guess they should also have a WordPress plugin since WP is one of the most widely used CMS platforms. Adding a plugin to Wordpress library will help Algolia and most global users to expand the search experience using Algolia for any one's platform/ website or their product. Also, the product should provide an in-built search bar generator tool that can then be embedded on to any website at any section of the page which will be very helpful for non-coder or new users who aren't very friendly with the development environment. WYSIWYG editor or search bar generator and styling tool can help a lot in integrating to small scale static websites.
Personalized search experiences that converts, and provides unique experiences to drive engagement.
Easy to use API, with Algolia we are able to delegate all our resources to be indexed, which makes the performance of our application faster. This not only provides for developer experience but also the overall user experience of our end users.
Well, till now I am yet to run into something I don't enjoy with the Algolia API. The basic/free trial limits could be extended though.
We're building a fashion marketplace for emerging brands in Ghana, We were looking for a scalable and easy to use solution to provide a much more robust search for better user experience. Algolia checks all our boxes by providing an API very friendly for our engineers and also the performance of our product.
We are using algolia for our internal pilot admin. It allows us to search quickly between clients and partners and make effective actions thanks to the search algolia is powering.
The fact that Algolia doesn't support old frameworks, like angularJS, the one we are using. We still have legacy javascript available, but still, it's not the same :)
We've solved our filtering problems on our clients and partners. It was somehow slow when we developed it in-house, but using Algolia, it made our life easier.
I like the speed of algolia search the most
it's a little bit expensive. Re-indexing the records is also an expensive operation.
I had issue with the search functionality at my website. Algolia is keeping good care of my website's search. Benefit of using algolia is that the users on my website can enjoy the fast search.
The search is so fast and is able to return results as you type. The experience that I can create with Algolia is leagues above other search providers and super easy to implement.
The pricing structure is a bit confusing at first. When you ask for help it puts you into one of their sales funnels
It's allowed us to greatly improve our blog search functionality and performance. We can now also send URLs which preload the filters we've selected. This is great for our marketing team!
The API to index data and the granularity on which we can allow users to search on.
Most of our clients want infinite scroll plus GeoSearch (click here for an example). The issue we have is that the map will render the result set differently depending on the position of the infinite scroll, ultimately not showing all the results available. For example: If I search and get 100 results and the hits per page is set to 50, the user will see the first 50 results on the map. Once the scroll position has loaded results 51-100, the map will only show results 51-100 and not show results 1-50. This confuses users. Some users find it confusing when the filtered item automatically goes to the top of the list when it is refined/filtered.
We solve complex search requirements for the complex commercial real estate industry. Users find the right properties using detailed search requirements.
The simplicity of the service means you can basically throw any data at it and it'll handle everything for you.
I feel it gets expensive quite quickly (especially for smaller startups on a tight budget), but other than that the service is great
We needed a reliable and accurate search solution but none of us have experience building search platforms. algolia was an easy drop-in solution
Product perfectly designed and awesome support team - very reactive and so efficient.
Product is still quite technical to implement, but is very well made.
I wanted a search engine for the documentation of my open source software. I was perfect to manage search on different version of the documentation.
Algolia gives me a far better search product than one I could engineer myself, and I had it up and running in a day.
The terminology they use in the dashboard can be confusing at first. Luckily, I spend very little time in the dashboard, so it isn't a major issue.
We use Algolia for product and user searches on our app and website, as well as for several internal tools. It's great for pretty much any search use-case that I've encountered so far.
- The way you can easily setup Algolia, populate an index and start doing mockups with instantsearch. - A lot of SDKs allow choosing the approach that better suits your use case. - Not needing to spend a lot of time and money in infrastructure or software architecture.
- Analytics are a tricky thing to do and don't work right out of the box. - Developer documentation isn't 100% complete and synced across sources so some things have to be inferred.
We needed a quick and easy way to launch a search feature for our customers and brokers, since using Algolia we have been able to iterate in the feature with reduced development time and able to change it easily.
Performance! It's where Algolia shines, they can deliver p99 < 10ms response times, the search experience feels instant, making a huge difference for our customers. They have many available SDKs for all sorts of clients which makes it very easy to integrate with web and mobile apps. Another great feature is the geo-replication where you can deploy your data to more datacenters and make the search faster all over the world, be aware that this cost extra though.
Pricing. For an early stage and growing startup it can be challenging to pay their price. We have to constantly purge old records and optimize our systems to decrease the number of operations which causes some extra development overhead for us.
We're using Algolia to power all of our search: from sports events calendar to digital asset management. With Algolia our customers can have a centralized view of their assets and it becomes searchable instantly, streamlining their content distribution.
