It is fairly easy to use, has been very reliable and has provided us with a very smart and innovative replacement for our previous services. It is very performant and has a lot of features for aggregating and ordering lists of objects that come in handy, when trying to provide the best possible UX
There was a small hiccup with one of the list ordering features, which wasn't actually solved. We contacted customer support, but they didn't take much action as it was working somewhat according to design. Maybe some of the documentation was misleading, however we managed to find a way around it pretty easily, due to the convenient API
It solves the problems of optimizing the search experience in speed and reliability, as well as reacting to the users' input. Using it for searching purposes we benefit from relevant searches acompanied with inisight into what the users find relevant
Great support team, great documentation and sdk to help implement. Intuitive modern UI.
It could push more USP features particularly on search. It's hard to know what you can/can't do.
Search. Reliable fast access to key value data.
It's very easy to use and implement. We really love the console dashboard as it makes it even simpler for folks who aren't used to using the tool to jump in.
The documentation is a little archaeic. It could use a bit of a refresh in the theme of ease of use.
Algolia makes it easy to search throughout our product catalog
-Simple to integrate -Supports almost all major programming languages with SDK -Blazing-fast search results -Recommender system -Very well suited for e-commerce website
-Requires internet to work with -Only runs in the cloud -Query system can be more robust to support more complex queries
Algolia is the main search engine on a website. It supports personalised content and a recommendation system base on users. Also has a great insight dashboard, which helps in discovering search patterns
Algolia provides easy-to-use APIs and integrations for popular platforms like Shopify, WordPress, and Magento. It also has a powerful dashboard that allows developers to customize and optimize their search experience.
Need to improve filter search, like range and date filter.
Algolia can handle complex search queries with ease, including misspellings, synonyms, and long-tail keywords.
I added Algolia to a Vuepress site. It was incredibly easy and straightforward. I had the search up and running in less than a couple of hours with great quality results.
The layout and navigation of the site are a bit confusing. I had a hard time understanding how to navigate between the profile, index, and crawler UIs. The UI can benefit from improved cohesive navigation.
Setting up a custom search instance is complicated, time-consuming and error-prone. Using Algolia I was able to have the search up and running almost immediately without having to manage servers or infra.
We are using Algolia for a search proof of concept. After signing up, the customer success team reached out to me to offer help. They were very helpful, pointing me to some open source synonym dictionaries that I could use in my project.
I have yet to experience any downsides to Algolia, it has been very nice to work with so far.
Searching a Firestore database of existing contacts to ensure the integrated apps can not introduce a duplicate entry. To do this, we are leveraging synonym dictionaries, typo detection and geo-location proximity filters.
Algolia helps my team and I to efficiently search through a large database and provide an impeccable customer experience. The InstantSearch.js + React Hooks API is unrivaled.
The 100kb file size limit for records can be a little difficult to work around. I understand the concerns behind not letting people "game" the billing system. However, it would be most optimal if users are billed additionally per >100kb record, rounded up to the nearest 100 and divided by 100. (e.g., a 140kb record would be 2x the price of a regular record because 140 rounded up becomes 200, divided by 100 becomes 2; similarly, a 540kb record would be billed at 6x the regular rate).
Algolia's automatic indexing of Firestore objects helps me because I don't have to manually reindex my data. I am more productive and can focus on other things.
Great support for open-source libraries, powerful configuration options, awesome reporting insights.
Some issues when integrating InstantSearch with the Next.js router
Fast and accurate search of thousands of documents. Insights into how our user's are engaging with search.
It has a good developer experience and performs well.
The client-side library size can be cumbersome for smaller apps. This can be circumvented by using server-side scripting, but it would nice to have an even lighter-weight library.
We are using Algolia for a conference and want to provide instant search through all the events for our users.
Great API, easy to use and figure out. We're an e-commerce site and it did a great job capturing all of our info and making it searchable. I had ideas to build the same thing from scratch, but glad we chose algolia.
The documentation -- especially for Vue JS front-end stuff, is kind of all over the place and a bit disorganized. So it's a little challenging to have junior engineers figure out what's going on.
Site-wide search is how we use it, and it's solving that problem for us in a big way. The shopify integration is OK -- not perfect, and documentation for a custom shopify is a bit lacking. For example, can't seem to find documentation on how to get algolia to take over our collections pages.
The combination with Bubble.io to create powerfull search features in apps.
Nothing to declare to my point of view, everything is very clear.
Making complex research with multiple fields in a database
I love how easy it is to integrate with Algolia. The documentation and the libraries are excellent, and tweaking the search rules to handle typos and ranking can be quickly done from their website. The search speed is better than with Elasticsearch.
Algolia changed its pricing around two years ago, and the new pricing is more expensive for our job portal because we have a lot of GET requests and few POST requests and records. We have planned to mitigate this by adding caching with Redis so that retrieving a single object will be done with Redis.
We are a job portal, and search speed and accuracy are essential for us. Using Algolia saved us development time compared to building an Elasticsearch cluster, and the "search as you type" feature was a nice bonus.
The latency allows us to not worry about optimization and allows us to build actual applications, this was evident when we went from our custom solution which was very bulky and complex, hard to maintain, to algolia and the results were clearly in favor of algolia
The interface can at times be daunting, especially in the beginning, maybe a product tour would help. Also would love to get tips and tricks, maybe a newsletter would be nice to have
We needed to make a property search with geolocations, initially solved with postgis and Postgres, soon turned to be very complicated and slow
Dashboard is very easy to use in all its functionalities. There is a complete set of function to manage every aspect without writing a single line of code. You need to do things programmatically? Algolia offers easy to use libraries written in many languages (javascript, php, java, etc...) to have full control of every aspect of index/crawler configuration / interrogation. Also everything is well documented in their docs. You need any help? Support team replies fast and with accuracy. How service works? They accomplish their promises: index queries resolves very fast in every scenario, even with thousands of objects in a single index. Your customer will have a very instant search experience.
Crawler part is a little bit a black box, even if configuration is well explained. You cannot make ajax calls in it's execution (even if, to be honest, it is not recommended at all). There is no xls/csv export of crawler logs and so they are not so easy to analyze through the dashboard. Query suggestion part maybe is lacking of some custom configurations and docs are not so clear as other functionalities.
Provide an ecommerce with a instant search user experience.
I was searching for a fast module that could easily integrate with my personal React-GatsbyJs website, that could integrate with Contentful and update searchable material via webhooks; Gatsby docs make the overall process easy for me and for my development team, in addiction Algolia platform is easy to use and it's the best described module to integrate.
I don't find many dislikes about Algolia, because the Free tier is made for someone like me.
With Algolia and React Instant Search, a pre-made component, I can provide the best experience for users of my webapplication.
the search and the speed access to the data, also the easy setup to linked to the firebase.
The harder part of the process is the move in my case cause I come from a different country, but Algolia has made this so easy and smooth for me that it’s really not a problem, plus I get to start a new life which is always an exciting adventure.
the load of the data is much faster than loading the data from the firebase
Algolia represents a huge advance compared to our Ecommerce site's original search tool. It delivers much more refined and relevant search results nearly instantaneously, making the shopper's experience much more productive and enjoyable.
It's so highly technical that I must involve our web developer to implement almost any tweak to search logic, other than some basic stuff I can accomplish on my own.
Our original site search tool was based on simple word-search, so it would display any product whose description contained the searched word, rendering search results almost useless. In contrast, Algolia returns search results that are way more useful. Our next step will be to index our blog and FAQ pages, in addition to our products, since oftentimes our visitors are searching for help on a topic, not just for a product.
API's are flexible and easy to implement. Service is excellent!
It'd be nice to be able to setup multiple personalization strategies.
Decreasing no result searches and helping customers find products more easily.
User experience for online customers. For our clients, their customers' experiences are very important considerations when it comes to search functionality. Algolia presents visual search results which are both attractive and have clear potential for conversion to sales.
Would like more features/flexibility. There have been some aspects to the application for e-commerce that still have room for improvement.
Attractive search presentation, speed of search and intelligent search/filter suggestions.
