Easy and simple funnel visualization and creation. The people report to query ID's from the database and build accurate timelines from our own users radically changes our roadmap both in the marketing and product team, making the company fully data driven.
Some features lack flexibility: not being able to add more columns to people searches, not being able to query manually through SQL, not being able to add OR and AND conditions to the same people search query. Also, when producing reports, not being able to query specific conditions, events or properties and represent it as a funnel visualization is a disadvantage.
Data analysis, product roadmap, attribution modelling, UX analysis, Marketing analytics.
I really like that you are looking at individual data, rather than sampled data that changes every time you run the same report. Some of the built in reports are great, for example the path report. Start at point A end at point B and fill in the gaps in between for me please - brilliant. Another very interesting aspect is that you can import data back into the system to fire events against individuals (for example offline activity - I work at a university so this could include people that attended an open day) - this opens up so very interesting possibilities for assessing user behaviour.
It would be nice if there was an option to expose more than 5 steps in certain reports - I know that the data is there so it is a shame that it doesn't have the option of being exposed. Hopefully this is something (that if enough people agree) can be achieved. I have a very large (and deep) site - so sometimes 5 steps is not enough to get the level of detail that I am after. This next point isn't really a dislike - but more a general point that not everyone will be in a position to account for: It takes a lot of setting up (a product like google tag manager can make your life a lot easier here). Out of the box it records very little (which is good because it makes you really think about what you want to record) - but of course that means when you first start using it you need to put some time, thought and effort into getting it going. This may or may not require some developer input as well.
Identifying key motivators for specific actions
Kiss is very flexible and powerful-- it does a great job of giving you a view of how things are interacting deep within the product/site. They've also added some channel tracking capabilities that are really good so you can see how many of your Google SEO visitors converted vs paid search vs direct visits, etc.
The results don't always foot with what I validate with my database, which makes it more of a "general idea" tool rather than the holy bible. Also, I dislike that when I want to download a report I have to wait for an email (which might end up in the junk mail filter) then click that, rather than having a report center I could download from when it's ready.
It solves so many problems-- we did a lot of testing of pricing, site features, etc, and it could track responses for test and original cases through all the metrics you could want. I also use it to pull a monthly marketing report to see the effectiveness of different spend.
User my user tracking and the ability to greatly manage and adjust the amount of content I track so that it is tailored to my needs.
I would like to ability to more broadly see people who did xx also went on to do yy
We are now able to track our cost of customer acquisition vs our customer value numbers to better utilize online advertising and content marketing.
The amount of details in each report makes it so the insights you learn through the tool are actionable.
The steep learning curve makes it a bit difficult but once you realize how the basics work, getting further ahead isn't too difficult.
Where are our customers coming from and what action steps take them to point of sale.
We were able to define our complex conversion funnel and measure accurately where each lead comes from, how they move through, what hangs them up, and how we can improve the funnel to maximize revenue. Total package for a marketer like me, and that doesn't even include all the other areas of the business it supports.
Nothing, really. Implementation is a bit developer-heavy, but custom solutions require effort to setup properly. Need a SQL-like reporting tool so it's easier to pull whatever data we need but I understand they are building this.
Marketing funnel measurement and optimization. Finally, we have accurate CPA measurements across the whole funnel. We're using the data to adjust our marketing budget, learn where to invest design and developer effort, and to create custom user experiences for different audience segments.
KISSmetrics gives you a single place to see how your business is doing. In the past, this kind of information was spread across our Infusionsoft, Google Analytics/Webmaster Tools, and other software platforms. It's also incredibly useful to have data attributed to people rather than just website hits. This attribution has led us to behavioral insights that we otherwise wouldn't have access to - and that's made us more profitable and productive with our marketing efforts. Their new path report is INSANELY great and helps us identify funnels that we haven't even thought of building out yet. The Live window is very useful when testing new events, tracking live campaigns, or making the initial installation.
It would be great to have a simultaneous event tracker, but that doesn't exist at the moment. That would cut down on redundant data/event capture and give us insights into what events are most highly correlated with one another. You can do this with the reports section now, but only with individual events.
We're measuring our onboarding process at the moment so we can identify highest dropoff rates. We knew in the past that the first 30 days of membership was crucial, but KISSmetrics gives us the information we need to know what to focus on during those 30 days. We also use it to measure our marketing campaign effectiveness based on a single end goal (software demos). Since KISSmetrics can recognize UTM parameters as well as their own API properties, user acquisition data is all in one place. (helpful!!!)
It is simple and useful. You will not find any unnecessary data which overwhelm. Its user interface is really simple which everyone can easily understand.
Last time I checked, it was not real-time. I think this feature should be added asap.
Churn and retention. If you really want to know about your customer, you should definitely use Kissmetrics. The most I really like about Kissmetrics is giving LTV and Cohort analysis.
Kissmetrics has many qualities that have been positive for our organization, most notably secure web data analytics and tracking customers, content and social media submissions quickly from our desktops and mobiles. It is a straightforward installation tool; it has taken us a few minutes and allows us to enjoy excellent visualization and customization options. What I liked the most is that it provides safely and reliably a large amount of data and information that allows us to control better what we need to perform as analysts; we use it to make decisions based on data, and in my opinion, we are happy with the results we have obtained.
It is not an intuitive or easy-to-use tool; it takes a little time to adapt and master the proposed learning curve. Likewise, we have found it challenging to summarize data and make integrations with third-party tools.
The main benefit we have obtained with Kissmetrics has been robust data analysis. It has provided our work team with valuable solutions to improve the web experience and effectively track leads, content and presentations on social networks. Other features we have found interesting have been visitor metrics and obtaining campaign statistics. Kissmetrics has helped us solve problems and streamline digital marketing tasks extraordinarily, benefiting the entire organization's overall growth and web presence.
Kissmetrics suits my way of working very well because it is easy to use, has fantastic support and has an excellent platform for ongoing data analysis, all of which I find very useful. It's easy to operate and provides quick access to a wealth of valuable tools for researching, discovering and solving problems in the enterprise and beyond. It loads quickly, offers powerful search tools, provides revealing data in a clear format, and generates digestible reports that can be studied effortlessly. In the years I have used it, it has become quite robust, and its many enhancements have been tremendously helpful and impressive.
There seem to be software issues inside that cause it to run slowly and even crash.
Data management focuses entirely on the ever-changing nature of day-to-day operations and, as such, is very efficient and has provided a great strength that has spanned many progressive analytical scenarios. I am relieved that we have finally established a set of guidelines that the corporation can rely on for this service. I am completely satisfied every time I use Kissmetrics, and I have no doubt you will be too. Secure data management.
If you're selling three or four items a month, Kissmetrics may not be for you. However, if you are the owner of a midsized business (wth a solid IT department!) this is an excellent solution that should cover most of your needs. All of that aside, I like Kissmetric's personal touch. You're seeing people doing things, not just numbers (as opposed to Google analytics).
Kissmetrics is not a walk in the park to set up. If you are not tech-savvy or have a dedicated staff member with IT skills, please reconsider your decision. It's a not tool, but I'm not sure I would hire a new employee just to install and maintain it. My colleagues have told me it has some limitations when it comes to aggregated data. It served our purpose, in any case.
I was consulting for a supplement store. Our primary objective was to identify bottlenecks to our conversion rates (because many customers, if they encounter a technical issue, will not bother to contact the webmaster). We were able to figure out which types of customers were the most likely to complete their purchase and which were not (as well as why).
Contribution to customer acquistion gradually increasing since it's integration. Mapping customer acquisition volumes with customer acquistion cost
ABV of customers acquired through SKU6 is significantly lower than those acquired through other deltas Frequency fluctuates rapidly
After using and integration Kissmetrics, we have been able to improve Acquisition channels Acquisition by product categories Customer value
People Reports provide great insights. The API seems to work well the little we’ve used it for querying reports
Doesn’t seem to be well maintained - seemingly simple bugs on the website (typically just UI problems) seem to perpetuate for a while.
Running AB tests to gauge feature effectiveness
I prefer Kissmetrics over Google Analytics for web attribution and user-level analytics. All of my PPC performance reports use Kissmetrics data. The user interface allows for very quick insights into users, campaigns, etc. The a/b testing tool is also a great add-on. The URL API tool is probably my favorite feature, as it allows marketers to spin up new events and properties in minutes, without having to engage the engineering team.
Data visualization and reporting inside the tool can be limited at times and I often find myself exporting raw data to transform/pivot in a spreadsheet. Kissmetrics also struggles with app-based attribution/analytics.
Web attribution and user-level event analytics are Kissmetrics' bread and butter. For a data-driven performance marketer, Kissmetrics is a powerful and flexible tool.
It is great to see where visitors click and move around on a website. To understand the customers is the best way to learn how to grow a business, to better engage with them as well.
cost :( I wish it was more economical for start-ups and entrepreneurs.
You can use it to identify leaks in the funnel and understand the flow of the visitors' behavior.
The granularity of all information. It allows me go deeper inside our operation. I also can check our performance almost in real time.
The data are all there but the reports could be more friendly customized. I never saw the reports available in your premium plan but I believe you will let the user create more flexible reports very soon. We normally see you are always creating new features.
I can clearly track all my sources performance and take the decisions that matter.
The best feature is the funnel report because it helps point out areas of improvement
I dislike the person look up tool. Sometimes I want to search by name and not just Id or email. Even once I get to the search results it's still hard to see all of that users personal information because the way it's displayed
Everything - we use it for our main tracking. Specifically my team is focused on growth and retention
The app is flexible enough to fit almost all needs.
A bit weak on mobile versus competition like Mixpanel
We're monitoring our app usage, and improving it on the base of reliable data.
The Funnel & Activity reports are by far the most useful. The Metrics feature is useful in its simplicity. I've also come to rely on People Search when troubleshooting non-related business issues. Also I must commend them on the effort and research they've put into constantly improving the platform. They do listen intently to user feedback and I've been approached by them numerous times for a quick call on a new or improved function.
There's an Engagement function to present banners, modals, etc. that really isn't what it should be. You can't use any of your data to cater messaging or show/not show messages to populations. It's glaring that this was left out so it feels like a tacked-on feature that was rushed out the door. I can understand not wanting to develop more in this area though as it nears the marketing automation space. When it comes to Kissmetric's overall value, I don't consider this feature a positive or negative. I also don't find the Revenue and Cohort reports useful, however I don't necessarily have a need for them.
Identifying the tactics that best convert our trialiers to recurring members has been the biggest boon and worth the investment alone.
The data--it is everything I wanted and more! The funnel report is worth the cost (for us at least) alone! I also have to do a shout out to the Kissmetric team--everyone that I have worked with has been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I can't recommend the support team at KM enough!
Long report loading times and there are some issues with finding the correct pages when filtering. (You need to know the "exact" name of the page or campaign you want to filter. There is no drop down.) Sometimes it is a bit difficult to figure out why a report isn't loading data. (All minor issues though)
We were looking to get a better idea of how our customers and potential customers are using our website. What the funnel conversion rate to email submission is and social ROI
